The HMBA Philosophy
The Hamilton Muslim Basketball Association (HMBA) is an organized athletics program that caters to the Islamic community of Hamilton and the surrounding area. The league was created in the summer of 2003 and has improved steadily, showcasing Hamilton’s Muslim basketball talent. HMBA’s mission statement is to provide a means for Muslim to interact, communicate and learn within an Islamic environment. The league, takes pride in approaching Islamic principles and brotherhood.
In recent years, the HMBA has started a program for the Sisters where they can be free to play sports such as basketball, volleyball and soccer in a female only environment. We have also introduced a structured skills program for the youth ages 6-12 where participants learn the fundamentals of basketball in a fun environment.
Our “HMBA Assist” initiative, was introduced with the aim of rounding up the local youth to participate in various activities within the community. Our youth will be active in food drives, runs for causes, assisting at homeless shelters and many other activities within the Hamilton community.
